John was a leading figure in the American Revolution, and he served as a delegate to the Continental Congress and as a diplomat to France and England.

In 1789, John Adams was elected as the first vice president of the United States. He served in this role for eight years, and he was a close advisor to President George Washington.

In 1797, John Adams was elected as the second president of the United States. He served in this role for four years, and he was a successful president who oversaw the expansion of the country and the strengthening of the military.

Later Life

After John Adams left office, he and Abigail retired to their home in Quincy, Massachusetts. They spent their later years together, and they enjoyed the company of their children and grandchildren.

Abigail Adams died in 1818, and John Adams died in 1826. They are both buried in Quincy, Massachusetts.
